A summer of festivals ahead
Some of the most famous festivals in the world have returned to Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders, with a dazzling line-up of performances and events.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo - 5th to 27th August
Set against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, this is one of the most iconic events in the city’s calendar, combining a spectacular mix of dance, music and military precision. Edinburgh International Festival - 5th to 28th August
For three incredible weeks, the capital’s venues host the very best music, theatre, opera and dance from around the globe. This year is a particularly special one; not only is the full programme of events back on again, the festival, founded in 1947, celebrates its 75th anniversary.
The Border’s Book Festival - 16th to 19th June
Why not book a relaxing break at one of our two excellent hotels in the Scottish Borders – Cringletie beside Peebles, or Schloss Roxburghe beside Kelso and visit the Book Festival, which features more than 100 events for all ages - and free entry to Harmony Garden and McInroy & Wood Orchard. The festival has grown over the years to be more than just books. Discover health and wellbeing classes and drop-in sessions, film, music, comedy and workshops as well as fine food and drink from the Borders and around Scotland.
The 150th Open Championship - 10th to 17th July
The world’s most famous players will descend on the Old Course at St Andrews, the Home of Golf and arguably the world’s most famous links, in a bid to capture the Claret Jug. This is sure to be a historic event with record crowds!
