COWSHED is situated in The Scotsman Hotel’s acclaimed ESCAPE health club, a stunning space for well-being and fitness which was named one of the ‘Top 10 Days Spas in the UK’ by Conde Nast Traveller in 2004.
COWSHED occupies its own, calm quarters in the club, with five treatment rooms and a chill-out area, all decorated in a sophisticated chic-country style. |
The COWSHED’s all-natural, 100% vegetarian spa pampering features a unique, proprietary range of essential oil-based treatments. COWSHED products are made by hand using organic flower and plant oils, with herbal essences from the walled garden at BABINGTON HOUSE, the home of the original COWSHED spa. To mark their move into Scotland, COWSHED have created a special herbal bath blend, ‘Highland Cow’. Hotel bathrooms are supplied with this, and the full range of products, which are also on sale through ESCAPE and THE SCOTSMAN.
COWSHED body treatments begins with a private consultation on skin care, health and treatment objectives, and concludes with recommendations for continued well being post-treatment. Guests are encouraged to take time in the chill-out area before and after their treatment, and to enhance the experience further an additional £15.00 entitles guests to full day use of ESCAPE.

ESCAPE is the finest health club in the city, with Scotland’s first stainless steel swimming pool, a spa pool, sauna, steam room and tropicarium. Additional facilities include 60 station cardiovascular and resistance gymnasium, and aerobics studio for more than 25 movement classes.
